Art Therapy
Art therapy is a form of therapy that utilises a variety art techniques and materials to help individuals express themselves, explore their emotions, and gain a better understanding of themselves. It combines the creative process with theory and counseling techniques to promote healing, personal growth, and overall well-being.
During art therapy sessions, individuals are encouraged to engage in different art activities such as painting, drawing, sculpting, collage-making, or any other creative form that they feel comfortable with (some tasks require specific mediums). The focus is not on creating a masterpiece, but rather on the process of creating and the emotions and thoughts that may arise during the process. Art can be used in therapy, as therapy or a combination of both.
Active Art offers Art therapy to individual clients of all ages and abilities (including those with NDIS plans). Ness Shannon is the Art Therapist who provides a safe space for individuals to explore their feelings, thoughts, and experiences that may be difficult to express verbally.
Art Therapy can complement other forms of therapy and is often recommended in addition to other therapies.
Sessions can be one-on-one, small group or tailored programs.
